Matthew Silpot has been in the Performing Arts for over 20 years, from student competitor to teacher in the Jamaica Development Commission (JCDC) music festivals, member of the Little Theatre Movement’s Pantomime, and facilitator of music workshops in Jamaica and the diaspora.
Matthew has been a facilitator, panelist and director of workshops across the island of Jamaica and in the diaspora offering expertise in curriculum development, best practises and support for music education as well as instrumental and vocal development. He works closely with the Joint Board of Teacher Education (JBTE), the Caribbean Secondary Education Council (CSEC), and the Edna Manley School of Music, as external examiner; and the National Housing Trust (NHT) as consultant in development of a music program for communities to enhance nation building through music. Mr. Silpot has served as the Education Officer with responsibilities for Music in the Core Curriculum Unit with the Ministry of Education since 2014.
