Philip Clarke

Philip Clarke has been a writer, Actor and Principal choreographer of Eagles Theatre Troupe (Kingston) and of its most recent musical drama “Jamaica Alive!” which just completed a tour in Florida. Mr. Clarke wrote this musical about the discovery of Jamaica as he felt Jamaican students did not know enough of their history.
Mr. Clarke founded and became Artistic Director of Dance Spirit (2003), a performing arts company based in Montego Bay, which is effectively training youth to develop themselves in the art of drama, dance and musical performance.
He has performed at Fairfield Theatre in Errol Hill’s ‘Man Better Man”; a Methuen Award nominee for his lead role in David Heron’s “Redemption”; as the convincing “Judas” in David Tulloch’s, The Narrative.
He also performed in the four-time Actor Boy nominated musical revue “Bay Vibez” directed by Douglas Prout and in 2010 won the Actor Boy Award for Best Actor in a supporting role in the world premiere musical “White Witch” also directed by Douglas Prout. He played Taku , Annie Palmer’s lover.
Mr. Clarke has been an ambassador with the Meet the People Programme with responsibility for the arts in Montego Bay in collaboration with the Jamaica Tourist Board. He is currently the Director of Arts and Culture at Centre for the Arts, UTech, Jamaica.
