Sarah Hsia is the founder of Rockstone Legal, a boutique Intellectual Property and Entertainment firm based in Kingston, Jamaica. She works closely with some of Jamaica’s best-known artists and producers to develop, commercialize and protect their intellectual property, from simple licensing agreements to complex transactions and deal structures. Her experience, coupled with her many talents and resources, allows her to seek effective and successful solutions for her clients, allowing them to focus on the creative side.
Her client list includes internationally-acclaimed artists and producers as well as emerging talent. She was the Music Licensing Attorney for the film Sprinter, forthcoming in 2018, which includes a soundtrack of predominantly Jamaican music.
Ms. Hsia graduated from Brown University in 1997 (magna cum laude, International Relations) and Harvard Law School in 2003. She was admitted to the NY Bar in 2004, and worked in the New York City office of Alston & Bird. In 2013, she earned a Certificate in Legal Education from Norman Manley Law School in Kingston, Jamaica, and was called to the Jamaican Bar.
Ms. Hsia is also the Director, Legal & Business Affairs for Zincbeats LLC, a boutique digital distribution and affiliated publishing company specializing in Jamaican music. She is responsible for business development, operations and legal affairs. She also consults for Ultra International Music Publishing.
She is mother to three young daughters (including twins) which takes up most of her spare time. When she’s not chasing toddlers, she enjoys chasing waterfalls and country runs to undiscovered beaches and rivers in Jamaica. And, of course, Jamaica’s unparalleled entertainment scene
